Casumo is a Malta-headquartered online casino and sportsbook known for gamified play, and this Casumo Ireland review sets out what the Irish Revenue Commissioners’ register shows about its licence, what the UK Gambling Commission found against it in 2021, what its app and products look like, and what customers say. One point matters before anything else: the Irish licence on the register is a sports betting licence, and Ireland has no casino licences yet, so Casumo’s casino games are provided under its other licences. We read the register, the regulator’s statement, Apple’s Irish App Store listing, press coverage and Trustpilot, and we say plainly where we could not verify something. Punter Ireland has no affiliate or commercial relationship with Casumo at the time of writing, and nothing here implies a bonus, deal or partnership.

Casumo Ireland licensing: what the licence covers

In Ireland, Casumo’s sports betting is operated by Jocularis Ltd, a company with an address at the World Trade Centre in Gibraltar. The Irish Revenue Commissioners’ register of licensed remote bookmakers lists Remote Bookmaker’s Licence reference 1021787 for Jocularis Ltd under the trading name “CASUMO.COM/IE”, with a named nominee. We read the version dated 30 June 2026 on 10 October 2026. The register does not publish licence start or end dates, so we cannot tell you when the licence was granted or when it expires.

This is a remote bookmaker’s licence, meaning sports betting. Ireland does not yet have gaming licences for casino products; the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) is expected to open gaming licence applications through 2027 and 2028. Casumo is mainly a casino brand, so this is the key point for Irish players: slots, live casino and table games at Casumo are not covered by the licence on the Irish register. They are provided under the operator’s other licences. Wikipedia lists the Malta Gaming Authority, the UK Gambling Commission, the Government of Gibraltar and the Swedish Spelinspektionen among Casumo’s licensing, but we did not check those registers, and we have not confirmed which licence applies to an Irish casino account.

Earlier versions of this page described the Revenue entry as a licence on the “GRAI public register”. That was inaccurate and has been corrected: the document we checked is published by the Irish Revenue Commissioners. We also searched the GRAI public notices of intent to apply and did not find a Jocularis Ltd or Casumo entry, so we rely on the Revenue register alone. Our guide on how to check a bookmaker is licensed shows how to confirm a licence yourself.

Casumo background and ownership

Casumo was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Malta, according to Wikipedia. It built its name on gamification, with challenges and achievements layered over casino play, and it has won several industry awards, including EGR and SBC categories listed on its Wikipedia page. It added a sportsbook through a deal with Kambi in March 2018, owns the casino brand Dunder, and in 2020 took full control of the brand CasinoSecret in what was reported as its first acquisition. It received approval to operate in Ontario, Canada, reported in June 2022, and has served markets including the UK, Spain, Sweden, Finland and New Zealand, as well as Ireland.

Who owns Casumo today is harder to establish. We found no report of an acquisition by a listed gambling group. One secondary website describes Casumo Services Limited, a Malta-based company, as part of Casumo Holding PLC, which it calls privately held, but that is a single undated source and we could not check it against company filings. We therefore describe Casumo as privately held according to a secondary source and say no more. If group ownership matters to you, check the company details in the site footer. Our licence-checking guide shows where to find the operator named in a site footer.

Regulatory history you should know about

We looked for published enforcement action against Casumo in the UK, Sweden, Malta and Gibraltar. We found one significant outcome, described below, and nothing else in the sources we could read. We could not read every regulator’s register directly, so treat “nothing else found” as a statement about our search, not proof that nothing exists.

  • 25 March 2021, United Kingdom: The UK Gambling Commission announced a £6m penalty and an official warning for Casumo, which runs casumo.com. It found social responsibility failings: the operator did not apply its customer interaction policies where it had concerns about possible problem gambling, so three customers had no responsible gambling interaction while losing £1.1m over three years, £65,000 in one month and £76,000 over seven months. It also failed to follow Commission guidance for two customers who lost £89,000 in five hours and £59,000 in 90 minutes. On anti-money laundering, it found Casumo accepted large deposits without sufficient checks, did not properly verify payslips and invoices against bank statements, did not assess bank statements properly (some showed only credits, with balances redacted), carried out inadequate document authenticity checks, set no spending limits based on income or wealth, and accepted winnings from other operators as source of funds without investigation. As a licence condition, Casumo had to instruct independent auditors, at its own expense, to test its new policies covering transactions after 1 July 2020. (Source: Gambling Commission statement, 25 March 2021.)
  • Casumo’s response: A trade news report quoted Casumo as saying the breaches occurred during a start-up phase of its UK operation and that it had since appointed a new chief executive and updated its social responsibility and anti-money laundering policies and processes. We repeat that as the company’s own account, not as a finding.

The penalty was imposed more than five years ago and concerned the UK licence, not the Irish one. It is still relevant: the failings were about spotting harm and checking where deposits come from, the same controls that decide whether a customer is asked for documents at withdrawal. Several Trustpilot complaints about extra document requests are consistent with a tighter regime, and with the perception that checks arrive late. We cannot say which explanation applies to any individual case.

Sports betting and casino products

Casumo’s sportsbook runs on Kambi, and the app listing describes a “new-look sportsbook” where you can personalise favourite sports and leagues. We did not test prices or markets, and we could not confirm whether it offers GAA or greyhound racing, so check the sport menu before you register. If you are new to bet terms, our guides to bet types and how betting odds work explain what you will see on the bet slip.

The casino is the core of the brand. The app listing claims more than 3,500 slots from providers including IGT, NetEnt, Blueprint, Red Tiger, Play’n GO, Microgaming and Big Time Gaming, and a live casino built around Evolution titles such as Lightning Roulette and Crazy Time plus a Casumo studio. It also describes The Adventure, a levels system in which play earns points toward rewards, and Reel Races, daily slot tournaments. These are the listing’s own claims and we did not count games. Our types of online slots guide and live casino games explained help you understand the formats, and our online casino guide for Ireland covers the legal position. Gamified loyalty features can make play feel more like a game than gambling, so keep your own limits in view.

The Casumo app

The Irish App Store lists “Casumo Casino & Sports Betting” from the seller Casumo Services Ltd. Apple data we read on 10 October 2026 shows an average rating of 4.35 from 69 ratings, a size of 52.5 MB, a requirement of iOS 15.0 or later and a last update on 5 October 2026, so it is actively maintained. Apple’s own content rating is 17+. The listing says the app supports Touch ID and Face ID, a Quick Launch shortcut to recently played slots, and Apple Pay. Some of the listing text is written for a UK audience, so do not take every statement as describing the Irish version. We did not install or test the app, and we could not check an Android listing. With only 69 ratings, the score is a thin sample. For other options see our list of betting apps.

Signing up

  • Register on casumo.com or in the app. You must be 18 or over, and the registration screen should confirm Ireland as your country of residence.
  • Expect identity and address checks. Trustpilot reviewers say they were told their account was verified, then asked for further documents when they tried to withdraw, so upload ID, proof of address and proof of payment method as early as you can.
  • Set deposit limits during registration rather than after you have started playing.
  • Decide before opting in to any bonus whether you accept its wagering conditions.

Our step-by-step guide to opening a betting account walks through each stage, and our new betting sites page compares recent arrivals.

Payments

We could not read an Irish version of Casumo. Requests to casumo.com/en-ie returned a not-found page, and requests to the main domain from our location redirected to Casumo’s Spanish site, whose offers apply to Spanish residents only, so we do not use them. The Irish App Store listing names Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Trustly, Neteller, Paysafecard, PayPal, instant banking and Apple Pay as supported methods and says payments are processed instantly. That text appears to be written for a UK audience, so it is not a confirmed Irish cashier. We could not confirm euro minimums, maximums or withdrawal times.

MethodConfirmed for Irish accounts? What we can say

PayPal, Skrill, NetellerNot confirmed for IrelandNamed in the app listing; withdrawal eligibility unverified. See our PayPal and e-wallet guide

Euro minimums and processing timesNot confirmedNot published on pages we could read; confirm at the cashier before depositing

Expect withdrawals to go back to a method in your own name after verification. Given the withdrawal complaints below, a small first withdrawal is a sensible test before you deposit more.

The welcome offer

We could not verify a current Irish welcome offer. The only offer we could read was on the Spanish site and applies to Spanish residents, so it tells you nothing about Ireland. Third-party pages quote a range of Irish offers and we do not repeat them. Read the live offer and full terms on the site, including wagering requirements, game weightings, maximum bet while a bonus is active, expiry and excluded payment methods. Trustpilot reviewers complain of bonuses and free spins being removed from locked accounts, which is a reason to screenshot the terms you opt in to. Our free bets and wagering explainer sets out what each condition means. A bonus is a promotional credit, not a reason to stake more than you planned.

Safety, limits and account controls

We could not read Casumo’s Irish responsible gambling page, so we cannot list its tools with confidence. The Spanish site we reached advertises breaks, limits and play reminders, and regulated operators are expected to offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, but check your account settings. The 2021 UK findings show why you should not rely on an operator to spot problems for you. Set your own limits before you play, use time-outs when you need a break, and use self-exclusion if gambling stops being fun. GamblingCare.ie offers free support on 1800 936 725, and our responsible gambling page lists more help.

Casumo compared with other operators we review

CasumoIrish Revenue licence 1021787 (Jocularis Ltd, Gibraltar); sports betting only under the Irish licence, casino under other licences; one UK penalty (2021); Trustpilot 1.7 out of 5
Mr GreenIrish Revenue licence through Mr Green Limited; sports betting only; three published UK and Swedish regulatory outcomes; Trustpilot 1.3 out of 5
NovibetIrish Revenue licence through Logflex MT Ltd; sports betting only; no published fine found; offer, payments and app unverified
BetwayIrish Revenue licence; sports betting only; two disclosed UK Gambling Commission outcomes (2020, 2022); very low Trustpilot score
William HillIrish Revenue licence through William Hill Malta PLC; sports betting only; £19.2m 2023 UK group package disclosed in its review
UnibetDirectly GRAI-licensed per its own terms, plus an Irish Revenue entry; sports betting only; card and PayPal payments

Casumo has a more recent app update and a more distinctive product than most, and one regulatory outcome rather than several. Against that, its Trustpilot score is low and the casino side sits outside the Irish licence. Compare it with the Novibet review, the Betway review and our full list of betting sites.

What Casumo customers say on Trustpilot

On 10 October 2026, Casumo’s Trustpilot page showed 1.7 out of 5 from 2,548 reviews, with 392 posted in the previous twelve months. Sixty-seven per cent of all reviews were one star and 22 per cent were five stars. The most frequent complaint is withdrawal delay, from several days to more than a month, including one reviewer whose £10,000 withdrawal was still pending after five days. Others say they were told their account was verified and then asked for more documents once they tried to withdraw, that accounts were locked for security checks or player-protection reasons, and that bonuses or free spins were removed. Several describe repeated live chat contacts, escalations with no follow-up and unanswered emails. Praise is scarce on the first page, though a few reviewers single out individual advisers.

Casumo replies to about 85 per cent of negative reviews, usually within a week, but the replies are near-identical: an apology, a statement that account details cannot be discussed publicly and a request to email hey@casumo.com. Some reviewers say they already emailed without an answer, and one reply admitted unanswered emails were a failure on the company’s side. Replying publicly is better than silence, but templated replies do not show that problems are resolved. Trustpilot reviews are unverified, cover casino play outside the Irish licence, and unhappy customers are more likely to post. Practical steps: verify early, keep records and withdraw a small amount first.

Irish gambling regulation context

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland opened applications for remote betting licences on 9 February 2026, and remote betting licences started on 1 July 2026, under the Gambling Regulation Act 2024. Until a bookmaker holds a GRAI licence, the Revenue Commissioners’ register remains the evidence of its right to take Irish bets, and we use it as our source. Casino (gaming) licences come later, which is why we never describe any operator as licensed for casino play in Ireland. Irish customers playing casino games are doing so under foreign licences, so protections and complaint routes differ from those for Irish-licensed sports betting. Our casino hub explains the wider picture.

Safety checklist before you sign up

  • Confirm the licensee: Jocularis Ltd, reference 1021787 on the Irish Revenue register, covering sports betting only.
  • Decide whether you are betting on sport or playing casino games, because only the first is covered by the Irish licence.
  • Check the cashier for euro limits, accepted methods and withdrawal times before depositing.
  • Read offer terms in full, including wagering, maximum bet and expiry, and screenshot them.
  • Upload identity and address documents early so your first withdrawal is not delayed.
  • Set deposit limits at registration and know how to self-exclude before you need to.

Dispute routes

Complain to Casumo in writing first, keep copies of everything and give it a reasonable time to answer. If a sports betting dispute stays unresolved, Irish customers of a licensed betting entity can raise concerns with the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland. For casino play under another licence, the route may run through the regulator named in the operator’s terms, which could be the Malta Gaming Authority or the Gibraltar authorities. Check the terms of the account you hold. Our Responsible Gambling page lists support organisations.

Switching from another bookmaker

If you are moving to Casumo from another bookmaker, carry across your limits, do not treat a new offer or loyalty level as a reason to stake more, and check that its sports menu covers what you bet on. A levels-based loyalty system can encourage extra play to progress, so decide in advance how much time and money you will spend. Registering a second account does not require closing the first, but each needs its own limits. If a cleaner licensing record or a larger sportsbook is your priority, compare Casumo with the operators in the table above first.

Who Casumo suits

Casumo may suit casino-first players who understand that their play sits outside the Irish licence, who like a gamified, app-led experience and who are comfortable verifying offers and limits themselves. It is less likely to suit punters who mainly want a GAA-focused sportsbook, anyone who wants confirmed Irish payment and withdrawal terms before signing up, and anyone for whom a 1.7 Trustpilot score and a past UK penalty are deal-breakers.

Customer support

We did not test live chat or email response times for this review. Trustpilot reviewers describe repeated live chat contacts that end without resolution, escalations that go unanswered and scripted replies, although Casumo does respond publicly to most negative reviews. One of its replies acknowledged unanswered emails as a failure on its side. On that evidence we score customer support low while recognising it is a one-sided source. Once registered, check the help section for current channels and save any transcript about a deposit, withdrawal or offer.

What to check before your first bet

Before your first bet or spin, confirm on the live site and in the app: the current welcome offer and its terms, the payment methods and limits at the cashier for your account, whether the sports and markets you follow are listed, and where the responsible gambling tools sit. Start with a small stake, learn the bet slip using our beginner’s guide to placing a bet, and complete verification before you need to withdraw.

Review methodology

This review is based on the Irish Revenue Commissioners’ register of licensed remote bookmakers (version dated 30 June 2026, checked 10 October 2026), the Gambling Commission’s 25 March 2021 statement on Casumo, trade reports on the company’s response and acquisition history, Wikipedia’s company page, Apple’s Irish App Store listing and Trustpilot. The Irish version of the site, the GRAI register for this entity, Android listings and current ownership filings could not be verified, so we say so rather than fill the gaps. We hold no affiliate or commercial relationship with Casumo at the time of writing, and ratings are our own judgement from the evidence above.

Frequently asked questions

Is Casumo licensed in Ireland?

Yes, for sports betting. Jocularis Ltd, trading as CASUMO.COM/IE, holds Irish Remote Bookmaker’s Licence reference 1021787 on the Irish Revenue Commissioners’ register (version dated 30 June 2026, checked 10 October 2026). It does not cover casino games, because Ireland has no casino licences yet.

Has Casumo been fined?

Yes. On 25 March 2021 the UK Gambling Commission announced a £6m penalty and an official warning for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings, with an independent audit as a licence condition. We found no other published regulatory action, but could not read every regulator’s register.

Can I play casino games at Casumo in Ireland?

Casumo offers casino games, but they are not covered by the Irish sports betting licence. They are provided under the operator’s other licences. We could not confirm which licence applies to an Irish casino account.

Who owns Casumo?

We could not verify current ownership from filings. One secondary source describes Casumo Services Limited as part of Casumo Holding PLC, which it calls privately held. We found no report of an acquisition by a listed group.

What do customers say about Casumo?

Trustpilot shows 1.7 out of 5 from 2,548 reviews, with 67 per cent at one star and 22 per cent at five stars. Complaints focus on withdrawal delays, extra document requests after a withdrawal request, account locks and scripted support. Trustpilot reviews are unverified.

Is there a Casumo app for Ireland?

Yes. “Casumo Casino & Sports Betting” is on the Irish App Store, rated 4.35 from 69 ratings, requiring iOS 15.0 or later and last updated on 5 October 2026. We did not install or test it, and could not check an Android listing.

Final verdict

Casumo has a confirmed Irish Revenue sports betting licence, a well-maintained app and a distinctive, gamified product. Against that, the UK Gambling Commission imposed a £6m penalty in 2021 for failures to spot harm and check source of funds, its Trustpilot score is 1.7 from thousands of reviews, its casino sits outside the Irish licence, and we could not verify its Irish offer, payments, withdrawal times or current ownership. If you try it, treat the casino as a product regulated elsewhere, verify your account early, test a small withdrawal first and set your own limits. If a cleaner regulatory record matters most, compare the other operators we review.
