Where do Brighton play?

Brighton play at the Falmer Stadium in Brighton. It opened in 2011 with 22,374 seats, and Wikipedia gives about 31,800 after the 2021 expansion.

The move ended 14 years without a permanent home. After the Goldstone Ground was sold in 1997 the club shared Gillingham’s Priestfield Stadium until 1999, then played at the Withdean Stadium.

Tickets are sold through the club’s official site.

Brighton history

Founding and the Football League

Brighton and Hove Albion were founded in 1901 and elected to the Football League in 1920. In 1910 the club won the Charity Shield, its only national honour.

First Division and the lower leagues

Brighton won promotion to the First Division in 1979 and were relegated in 1983. They lost the 1982–83 FA Cup final replay 4–0 to Manchester United and dropped to the third tier in 1996.

The Goldstone Ground

Dick Knight took control in 1997 after fan pressure ousted the old board. The Goldstone Ground was sold that year, and Tony Bloom replaced Knight as chairman in May 2009.

The Premier League and Europe

Brighton were promoted to the Premier League in 2017 after 34 years away. They finished sixth in 2022–23, qualifying for Europe, and topped their Europa League group in 2023–24 before losing 4–1 on aggregate to Roma.

How many titles have Brighton won?

Brighton have never won the top-flight title or a major cup. Wikipedia’s honours table is partly garbled, so we do not give an exact count of lower-league titles, but it includes League One in 2010–11.

Promoted to the Premier League

The club was an FA Cup runner-up in 1982–83. Its lower-league titles include the Southern League in 1909–10 and the Third Division South in 1957–58.

Have Brighton played in Europe?

Yes. Brighton first qualified for European football in May 2023 and topped their 2023–24 Europa League group.

They lost the round of 16 tie 4–1 on aggregate to Roma. The club has not won a European trophy.

Famous Brighton managers

Roberto De Zerbi managed the club before Hürzeler, and Hürzeler became the youngest permanent Premier League manager in 2024. Our sources did not give verified scoring or appearance records, so we do not state one.

Rivalries and supporters

Crystal Palace are the fiercest and longest-standing rivals, dating to the 1970s. Southampton and Portsmouth are sometimes called local derbies, though most fans do not treat them as rivals.

Betting on Brighton

Brighton can be hard to price, so the draw is worth checking. Say a bookmaker offers 2.25 on a Brighton home win, 3.60 on the draw and 3.15 on the away win. Those prices imply chances of 44.4%, 27.8% and 31.7%, which total 104.0%, so the margin is 4.0%. A €10 bet on the draw at 3.60 returns €36.00, a €26.00 profit. The prices are illustrative, not a quote. Our guide to how betting odds work walks through the sums.

Before you bet on a Brighton match, check for team news, because line-ups are announced about an hour before kick-off and prices often move. Our bet types guide explains markets such as draw no bet and both teams to score, and the free bets guide explains why offers rarely pay what the headline suggests.

Our AI predictions track record logs every pick we make, hit or miss, and our Premier League predictions and odds guide explains how to use predictions without treating them as certainties.
