Newly promoted sides are often priced as underdogs away from home. Say a bookmaker offers 2.90 on a Hull home win, 3.30 on the draw and 2.45 on the away win. Those prices imply chances of 34.5%, 30.3% and 40.8%, which total 105.6%, so the margin is 5.6%. A €10 bet on the draw at 3.30 returns €33.00, a €23.00 profit. The prices are illustrative, not a quote. Our guide to how betting odds work walks through the sums.
