Chelsea appointed Xabi Alonso as manager on 17 May 2026 on a four-year deal, as the club announced on its official site. Earlier in 2026 Liam Rosenior was appointed on 6 January and sacked on 22 April, and Calum McFarlane was interim head coach until the end of the season, according to Wikipedia, which does not itself describe Alonso’s appointment in its text. Stamford Bridge opened on 28 April 1877, with an original capacity of about 100,000, and hosted FA Cup finals from 1920 to 1922. The freehold, pitch, turnstiles and naming rights are owned by Chelsea Pitch Owners, a non-profit fan-shareholder company, and the club must play first-team matches at Stamford Bridge to use the Chelsea FC name. The North Stand was renamed the Matthew Harding Stand in 1996.
The training ground is at Cobham, Surrey, in use since 2004. Tickets are sold through the club’s official site.

Betting on Chelsea
Chelsea have changed manager twice in 2026, so recent results are a weaker guide than usual. Say a bookmaker offers 1.90 on a Chelsea home win, 3.60 on the draw and 4.20 on the away win. Those prices imply chances of 52.6%, 27.8% and 23.8%, which total 104.2%, so the margin is 4.2%. A €10 bet on the draw at 3.60 returns €36.00, a €26.00 profit. The prices are illustrative, not a quote. Our guide to how betting odds work walks through the sums.
Before you bet on a Chelsea match, check for team news, because line-ups are announced about an hour before kick-off and prices often move. Our bet types guide explains markets such as draw no bet and both teams to score, and the free bets guide explains why offers rarely pay what the headline suggests.
